UNO documentary: Niki Frisky and Sarah the Bobcat from The Mystic Ponies

Who: Niki Frisky and Sarah the Bobcat. They defy gravity with their aerial acrobatics as the Mystic Pony Aerial Troupe. The name, as the two trapeze artists explain on their Facebook page, comes from a legend about a unicorn who fell in love with Pegasus; their offspring were acrobats called The Mystic Ponies. These sparkle-filled stallions could  fly and flip through the air with ease, in much the same whimsical way that their namesakes do.

Film by: UNO student and filmmaker Taylor Terrebonne

Editor’s Note: NolaVie partners with students of UNO professor László Zsolt Fülöppairing them with artists, non-profits, environmental groups, and cultural entities to facilitate a live curriculum that results in a short documentary. In this short doc, UNO film student Taylor Terrebonne followed Niki and Sarah through their aerial paces.

The Film and Theatre Department of UNO and NolaVie present this series of short films produced by the students in Laszlo Fulop’s documentary class. Read Renee Peck’s column about the program here.
