Big Chem-EZ: Is the safety of the drinking water affected by major storms and main water line leaks within New Orleans?
Dear Big Chem-EZ: I read that the water taken from the Mississippi River goes through an elaborate detailed treatment process to make it safe to drink. But I have noticed that NOLA has a lot of main water line leaks in the city roadways that go unrepaired. Does storm water or other pollution sources get into the water supply at the water line leak locations? Is the water still safe by the time it gets to my house? Should I need to take precautions such as boiling the water before I use it? Your questions are answered here.
