The concert begins at 6:00 PM and ends at 8:00 PM; like we said, fantastic adult interpretations of “after-hours.” Tickets for the show are range from $6.75-$13.50, and you can purchase them here.  For more information about the concert, check out their event page here

Friday, June 7/Rogers Memorial Chapel (Tulane University): In 2016, Summer Lyric Theatre at Tulane started its new outreach program, The Story Road Project, in conjunction with the Tulane Musical Theatre Program. The mission of The Story Road Project is to make live theatre accessible for all young people throughout the Greater New Orleans area. This season, SLT and Story Road will be presenting the regional premiere of a new musical adaptation of the folktale, Tortoise and Hare, and their telling of this age-old classic will be through the musical and dance styles of rap, hip hop and other pop styles. Shows will runJune 7, 8, 14, 15 at 11:00 AM and June 9 and 16 at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Tickets run between $6 and $12, and you can purchase them and find out full information about the performance here

Saturday, June 8/The Civic Theater (510 O’ Keefe Avenue): We still hear him on the radio, we still find ourselves singing his tunes, and we still find ourselves wanting to dance, dance, dance to all of his beats. Who? Prince, of course, and DJ Soul Sister is making those desires come true this Saturday. Soul Sister presents the third annual Purple Takeover: A Prince Celebration (previously known as REVOLUTION: A PRINCE Celebration).  This means you can party up to all Prince and Prince-related jams and b-sides all night. Make it rain, everyone. And when you do, make it purple. The dancing begins at 10:00 PM, tickets are $20 (in advance), which you can purchase here. For full details on the dance party, check out their event page here

Saturday, June 9/The French Quarter: Join more than 100,000 people as the city celebrates New Orleans Pride 2018! Jake Shears, Kelly Ripa, and Rachael Harris led the 2017 Parade. Who will it be for 2018? You’ll have to hit the streets to find out. The parade starts rolling at 7:30 PM, and it ends when…well, we have no idea when it will end! There are tons of dance parties and outings for all of pride weekend, so check out NewOrleansPrideFestival.com. for a full list!

Sunday, June 9/Staple Goods (1340 St. Roch): Sound and art come together for Staple Goods’s new exhibition, but don’t be fooled, it’s not sound art. Their new exhibition opening this week entitled Signal and Noise is a visualization of the term signal-to-noise ratio, as well as the idea that a noise to one person is a signal to another. Images of functioning and abandoned objects and structures in various states of decay and disrepair express a Japanese notion of wabi-sabi, the appreciation of impermanence, imperfection, and simplicity. In this series of tonal paintings, visual noise amplifies the passage of time, and the bleak side of ordinary landscapes. The opening reception is at 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 9; it is free and open to the public, and you can find full details about the exhibit here

Sunday, June 9/Marigny Opera House (725 St. Ferdinand): Are you in need of a Sunday meditation? Marigny Opera House has exactly what you desire. The New Orleans Chamber Orchestra premieres Sinfonia XIII “Mourning” by New Orleans composer Jerry Sieg and “Ars Moriendi,” a cantata by co-music director Maxim Samarov featuring soprano Amy Pfrimmer and bass-baritone Ivan Griffin. The program also includes pieces by Vivaldi, Purcell, and Sibelius. The tickets for the concert are $20 (general) and $15 (senior/student), which you can purchase here. The concert begins at 8:00 PM.
