We got your weekend: Shakespeare, Church Tunes, Healing Motions

loto-1THURSDAY-SUNDAY / To thou and thou:  Whether you haven’t read a play since high school or recite the words of the Bard on the regular, watch Timothy Mooney recite some of the most outrageous Shakespearean monologues chosen at random at the Shadowbox Theater. Audience members can get a Shakespearean BINGO card, or rather, IAGO, and play along. To be or not to be there isn’t the question. With three chances to see it this weekend, you just have to decide when.

SATURDAY / Bach around the clock: This Saturday evening, join Trinity Church in celebrating twenty five years of music with Albinas Prizgintas. The Julliard-educated organist plays 10 to 12 services a week and has orchestrated other Trinity music events. Albinas has worked with not just the church but contributed to the greater musical landscape of New Orleans. Celebrate his 25 years first with a concert at 7 PM, then a gala at 8:30 PM.

734148_491010490936404_1418908913_nSATURDAY / Healing movement: Tragedy brings people together. Go to Bayou St. John this Saturday at 9:30 for From the Bayou to Boston, a special class dedicated to sending healing energy and love those affected by the bombing. All donations collected will be donated to the Boston Medical Center. Exercise with a greater purpose and contribute to peace around the world.

SUNDAY / Altos and sopranos: Join the Marigny Opera House and the 9th Ward Opera Company for a double dose of culture. The 90 minute show has classical music, dance, tragedy and comedy. The first show is Frauenliebe und leben by Robert Schumann, a cyclical performance about love. The second, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s From Maid to Mistress, a more comedic tale. Hit a high note with high culture this weekend with shows on April 18 and 21. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.
