Jessica Lang, a former Twyla Tharp dancer and one of the country’s most sought-after choreographers, presents her new company in three New Orleans performances this weekend. Lang creates artful, emotionally engaging ballets that demonstrate what the London Guardian called her “exceptional stage imagination.”
New Orleans is one of the first cities to see Jessica Lang Dance, which was launched in July 2012. And while there’s nothing like seeing these dancers in the flesh, we can’t help but think that the following photos of Lang and her troupe make for pretty moving digital performance art.
Jessica Lang Dance performances will take place on Friday, Jan. 18 (sold out), Saturday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m., in Freda Lupin Memorial Hall at NOCCA, 2800 Chartres Street. For ticket information, call 504-522-0996 or go to www.nobadance.com.
