The poetic city: “A Leaf Recently Fallen”

A Leaf Recently Fallen
 
The sight of a leaf 
recently fallen from
the red maple 
beside the road
just after the rain 
captured my eye and 
stopped me in my tracks.
 
I thought it would make 
a good picture… 
 
But I didn’t know how good 
until the rectangular frame 
of the smartphone camera 
brought all the elements 
into play and turned the picture 
into a painting…
 
A painting of nature’s 
unadorned beauty caught
in the delicacy of time.
