The poetic city: “Snap, Crackle and Pop”

“Snap, Crackle and Pop”    
 
Once upon a time 
But not so long ago
I thought of Deep Space 
As the Big Emptiness
 
Then I read that even 
Deep Space is abuzz 
with virtual particles 
appearing and disappearing 
faster than the blink of an eye… 
 
Leaving me to wonder 
if the sound of the energies
of the Universe is really “Om”  
as claimed by many a revered 
mystic… 
 
Or maybe when we put our ear 
to the Great Void out of which
all things manifest, 
the sound we’ll hear is the 
snap, crackle, pop 
of those virtual particles
 
As they sing and dance
the world into existence 
to the tune of Allen Toussaint’s 
“Everything I do gonna be funky 
from now on.”
