Footprints: The magic of the New Orleans chainsaw artist Marlin Miller, as told through photos

Editor’s Note: Writer Julieta Dalmau was so inspired by Marlin Miller’s chainsaw art and his love for the Gulf Coast that she created a visual homage to his work. Pairing her journalistic writing with Miller’s art by overlaying her story with the images, she created a photo essay for your eyes and mind. As you read, she asks that you listen to “Buddy Bolden” to emerge yourself in the feel she felt when looking at Miller’s work.

This piece was created for Kelley Crawford’s Alternative Journalism class at Tulane University (Fall 2019)
