The poetic city: “Shortcut to Enlightenment”

Shortcut to Enlightenment

It’s a playful game
with serious intent
The goal of which
is enlightenment

Sometimes I play it
While walking the walk
Around the golf course
In Audubon Park

To enter a zone
Where all effort is shed
I simply pretend
I am already dead.

In that state of
Timeless relevance
Each object speaks with
Its own eloquence

Upon returning to the
Familiar paradigm
I carry with me a
Pinch of the sublime
