Throwback Thursday – 30 Under 30: Slice

Editor’s note: Today is national cheese pizza day (yes, cheese pizza has it’s own glory day), so we’re thrown’ in back to a previous, pizza-related 30 under 30 suggestion.

It’s Friday night and you’ve inevitably had a few drinks at the happy hour location of your choice (perhaps, for instance, The Columns, where you can get house wines and wells for $2.50 during their daily happy hour) and now it’s time to munch.

If you’re still an unestablished twenty-something like myself, you’re thinking a few things: inexpensive, delicious, group-friendly.

Slice Pizzeria, with locations on St. Charles and Magazine, never lets me down. The restaurant is known for selling gourmet pizza by the slice, in addition to other reasonably priced Italian food. Personally, my favorite slices are the “Prosciutto, Gorgonzola, and Arugula” (impress the wait staff by calling it the “PGA” and asking for a side of honey. The honey will rock your world/palate) and the “Shrimp & Andouille.” Both priced at $3.75, you’ll be perfectly full for under 10 bucks.

And let’s also assume that you, as a member of the under-30 crowd, are active in the world of social media. If you use Foursquare to check in to Slice and become the mayor, you’ll get a free pint of Abita Amber with each subsequent check-in. It’s the best! I know this because I was the mayor for a two-week period in September, until my position was abruptly usurped by one “Kelsey P.” Not to worry, I’ll reclaim my mayorship soon, and my comp’d Abita and I hope to see you there.
