The Museum of the American Cocktail and the staff of Tiki Tolteca sets sail today with a tasting of the much-maligned tiki cocktail, the Mai Tai. The adventure includes five versions of the Mai Tai and the history of each, starting with the original recipe and working its way up to the present. Nathan Dalton, Danielle Maurin, and Richard Odell will be behind the bar leading the exploration. Tiki Tolteca is a new pop-up tiki bar in the French Quarter, above Felipe’s Taqueria.
The fun takes place Tuesday, June 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tiki Tolteca, 301 N. Peters St.. Tickets are $10, which includes samples, and tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance here.
