A Super Bowl fan’s guide to New Orleans

The Super Bowl is coming to New Orleans, football fans in tow. Here is a personalized guide to New Orleans based on the World Champion contenders.

San Francisco 49ers Fans: What a great thing it must be to share a city with the very impressive Golden Gate Bridge (which, I may add, Zagat rates a whopping 26/30. Not bad!). You no doubt miss its allure, its photogenic appearance, and its majesty.

Well, once you’ve finished racking your brain trying to count just how many years Randy Moss has played in the NFL, I implore you to discover some of the bridges we have to offer.

It may not be impressively suspended, but the Huey P. Long Bridge has its own je ne sais quoi. Trust me when I say, the bridge is best experienced when you, the driver, are so disoriented by the unclear entrance/turn lanes that you accidently find yourself on this frighteningly skinny terror with no turning back. Miss those Pacific views and that bright red color? The Huey P. offers similarly breathtaking views of Wal-Mart and broken-down barges, and extensive rust so red-brown, you just might mistake it for a glorious rouge! We hope you’ll feel right at home.

If not, pay homage to another one of our bridges at Bridge Lounge. The mojitos are delicious.

Baltimore Ravens Fans: First of all, thanks for David Simon. We loved Treme while it lasted.

But, besides being home to people who are great at creating HBO series, we hear you’re also great at other stuff, too. Crab cakes and football? That’s what Maryland does? The football part remains to be seen, but a knack for seafood is something else on which we can relate.

Once you’ve completed your southward trek, you will obviously be shaking from crab cake withdrawals. Now, of course you can tide yourself over with a seafood po’ boy from Johnny’s, but sooner or later, you’re going to need to real deal. We get it. Look no further than Red Fish Grill and Mr. B’s Bistro. Both conveniently located downtown, they each provide some of the best crab cakes I’ve ever tasted.

But don’t worry! You’ll always have The Wire. Great show.

Enjoy the city. Enjoy the ‘dome. And as always, Who Dat.
