A New Orleans map with a New Orleans state of mind

How could you not want to go to an art opening sponsored by Old New Orleans Rum and Pabst Blue Ribbon beer?

But there will be lots more to absorb at photographer J. Stirling Barrett’s solo show, “Facade: New Orleans Photographic Collage,” when it launches Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Scott Edwards Gallery, 2109 Decatur St.

Barrett started perfecting digital images in the Intaglio printing style whiile still a student at Country Day School here. Now, a decade or so later, he melds anywhere from 100 and 500 different landscape images into each of his individual prints.

Barrett shared a couple of dozen of his trademark and iconic New Orleans photos with NolaVie, and we’ve put him, and them, on the map. The interactive map below offers the photogarpher’s unique view of a number of local landmarks. We’ve added a bit of equally unique descriptions.

According to NolaVie writer Brianna Smyk, Barrett’s art “conveys the  New Orleans state of mind.”

We agree. Enjoy.
