Fashion Week takes place Oct. 13-20, with some innovative additions this year.
New Orleans Fashion Week is gearing up for its Fall/Winter season, October 13 – 20, which presents 16 new collections by local designers.
In September, Fashion Week organizers Nicholas Landry, Andi Eaton and Lauren Lagarde held an orientation to give designers time to connect fully with their resources and the plans for the week. Fashion Week is centered around four components: shows/presentations, workshops, market, and showroom. New this season is the opportunity for the designers to participate in the Pop-Up Showroom, which will provide a place to schedule buyer appointments as well as press appointments.
The majority of this season’s shows will be at the Saratoga at 212 Loyola Avenue, with two at the Cellar Door, 916 Lafayette St., and one on the rooftop of Union Lofts, 334 Carondelet St. Further details about the designers, workshops and the schedule are available at nola-fashionweek.com/
Prior to the orientation, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy met with local creatives to launch the C4 Project. The Claiborne Corridor Cultural Collaborative (C4), a mapping project funded by the National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” grant, will evaluate “creative place-making” in neighborhoods along Claiborne Avenue from the Jefferson Parish to Orleans Parish lines. In identifying cultural assets ranging from organizations to individual artists and producers, the City intends to use this information to “deploy its resources to better support and enhance the places where we live, work, and practice.”
