Hurricane Isaac, the aftermath

Like house guests and in-laws, Hurricane Isaac overstayed his welcome. Now that he has reluctantly moved on, residents are digging — and drying — out. These photographs by Matthew Hinson chronicle the routine (and some of the ruin) in the storm’s aftermath. And what they show is that, come hell or high water, New Orleanians know how to make the best of any situation.
