As New Orleans’ entrepreneurial community grows, so too does diversity of its entrepreneurs and organizations that support these entrepreneurs. In 2014, VetLaunch — a not-for-profit entrepreneurial organization that is geared specifically towards helping business-minded vets launch their startups — was born. Since, VetLaunch fellows have competed in (and even won) nationally recognized pitch contests. Around the same time, Landing Zone — a coworking incubator (which VetLaunch operates out of) in the Lower Garden District that allows vet entrepreneurs to work independently, and simultaneously experience a sense of camaraderie they experiences in that services — also opened its doors.
Jasmin Cook, a film student in the Department of Film and Theater at the University of New Orleans, spoke with VetLaunch program manager Jeremy Brewer about the two programs. Learn more about VetLaunch’s backstory and programming here.
